Archive for February, 2008

Well, I wanted to something different, so I recorded a a podcast/radio show for the band Sunny Day Real Estate. It isn’t near ready for me to post right now, but I figured I should post something to keep yall interested. I think SDRE is a great jumping point for series of podcasts in which to introduce you to music I love.

Anyway, hold me to this so I can get the editing done and the podcast out soon. I’ll stream it to site and allow for a download of the mp3 so you can listen to it at your leisure.

Writing

Okay, I finally have all of chapter one finished. Really, it’s probably more of a prologue as the tone is different than the rest of what I’ve written. It is purposefully darker than what comes after. I don’t think I’m going to type anything else up for a while. I’d rather spend time writing, not transcribing. This story arc is one of the few things I’ve been able to retain interest in for this long of a time period, so I’m going to continue to go where the energy leads me.

I may, however, post some of my older writing. Stuff that I already have typed up. I just hope I still have it as I upgraded to Vista last week and accidentally deleted some stuff I didn’t want to. Nope, just checked, still have some older stuff. Here’s a taste of the beginning of a short story. I don’t think I ever finished the story, but I do like how it begins. So, consider this your hold over for now.

Recalled Beef

Well, I don’t buy a whole lot of beef, but for those who do, you may want to check to see if you need to return it/throw it out.

“The recall will affect beef products dating to Feb. 1, 2006, that came from Chino, California-based Westland/Hallmark Meat Co., the federal agency said.”

I can’t be the only one thinking that if you have beef products from two years ago, you shouldn’t eat them anyway.

“Officials estimate that about 37 million pounds of the recalled beef went to school programs, but they believe most of the meat probably has already been eaten.”

“Federal officials suspended operations at Westland/Hallmark after an undercover Humane Society video surfaced showing crippled and sick animals being shoved with forklifts.”

I hope this company files for bankruptcy.

Writing

Okay, so I typed up some more of the chapter and put it on the Threads page. I’ve now typed up over half of the chapter. I feel like I let it pace too slowly during this part, as you will see when I type more of it up. I may trim it down eventually, combining two events, but for now I’ll just leave it in all its glory for you to read. (The two parts are in there now. I don’t like the way the second part turned out, still. I’ll come back to it eventually.)

Word of warning. This isn’t exactly the most fun thing in the world to read. It’s kinda messed up, so . . .

FYI: The new section starts with “The first thing I heard” so if you want to skip down, well, there you go.
